The Beast Of Jersey Was A Horrifying Criminal Ripe For A Movie Adaptation

When you think of horrifying criminals, your mind probably wanders to suspects like Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy. But the world of horrifying criminals is so much larger than that.

While not all serial killers end up being as prolific in their sprees as Dahmer or Bundy were in theirs, they are still uniquely terrifying. One great example is Edward Paisnel, also known as the Beast of Jersey.

From 1960 until 1971, Paisnel terrorized the small island of Jersey, which is located in the English Channel.

Paisnel broke into homes after dark wearing a horrifying rubber mask and nail-studded wristlets. Once inside, he attacked and sexually assaulted all of the women and children he found in each house.

While his crimes pale in comparison to Dahmer or Bundy, Paisnel is made all the more terrifying because of the homemade mask he wore during his attacks, which you can see in the photos below.

Paisnel’s spree came to an end after he was arrested during a traffic stop for driving a stolen vehicle. Inside the car, police found Paisnel’s costume.

In December of 1971, Paisnel was convicted on 13 counts of assault, rape, and sodomy. He spent the next 30 years in prison until his death in 1994.

That mask is terrifying! I can see how he earned that nickname. Luckily, he’ll never have the chance to hurt anyone ever again.
