It’s with heavy hearts that the Canton Ohio Police Department says goodbye to one of its own.
He was a dedicated officer for three years, saved lives, and loved his brothers in blue.
He was also a German shepherd.
Jethro, an officer in the K9 unit, responded to a call about a robbery on Saturday. When the cops arrived, the young dog was shot three times by the armed suspect. He was rushed to a veterinary hospital, but after some time, it was clear that his brain injury was worse than anticipated. He passed away on Sunday.
His fellow officers made this incredible tribute to their partner, who the Canton police chief said “saved officers’ lives” on Saturday.
When he was carried from the vet, this is how his police department sent him off (grab the tissues):
Blue lives matter even the small ones. RIP K9 Officer Jethro

We salute you, Jethro. You were brave and we believe you’re in heaven chasing around squirrels and tons of tennis balls!
