Arkansas already has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country, and a new one set to go into the effect at the end of the month could make things even worse. House Bill 1566, or the Tissue Disposal Mandate, requires that a fetus be disposed of in the same manner as a body. That means women will need to get permission from the father before seeking an abortion, or from their family if they’re under 18.
The American Civil Liberties Union has sued to block the law because it believes that the wording could require a woman who has been raped to get permission from her rapist before she has an abortion. Unsurprisingly, Twitter user Jessica Rose wasn’t happy when she read a VICE article on the issue, and decided to share it on Facebook.
