Coral reefs cover only a small percentage of the ocean floor, but they house nearly a quarter of all marine life. They’re fascinating, magical parts of ocean life that have been destroyed by mankind’s recklessness on numerous occasions.
Well, one cruise line recently has been outed for failing to follow laws that were put in place to protect reefs. A Zenith cruise liner dropped its anchor very close to a protected coral reef, and divers have concluded that it may be damaged beyond repair.
We need to protect these reefs that took thousands of years to grow. They could be wiped off the planet extremely quickly if we’re not careful, and if they’re destroyed, the animals that call them home will be next.
