When you’re holding a gun, it’s human nature to want to fire wildly into the air. And why not? It’s not like it’ll hurt anyone, right? Well, as the old saying goes, what goes up must also come down.
Nine times out of ten, a bullet fired into the air will come down somewhere away from people. But every so often, it will land near people and cause some serious damage — something that Redditor ahhvey‘s friend learned over New Year’s.
ahhvey said that his friend went to bed on New Year’s Eve at a reasonable time, and awoke to find this bullet hole in his window.
According to ahhvey, no one heard any shots during the night, so it must have been fired carelessly into the air from a distance.

Well, that’s downright terrifying. Physics, especially when it comes to guns, can be a cruel mistress.
