Do you ever wonder how many times a day you end up on video? It’s kind of freaky if you think about it for too long. That’s why most of us don’t. However, one Finnish artist decided to run with that thought. The result is a creepy art project that’s more than a little unsettling if you don’t know what’s going on.
The spooky figure you see in the photo below is 36-year-old Tatu Gustafsson.
Since 2012, Gustafsson has made a point to visit all of the weather cameras in his native Finland and have himself photographed in each location.
In Finland, there are around 700 weather cameras that take a photograph every 12 minutes. They’re maintained by the country’s central transportation agency.
While he used to be a truck driver, since last September Gustafsson has made taking weather camera selfies his full-time job.
Every morning, he’s up at the crack of dawn and out to find another camera to be photographed by.
Gustafsson received an artist grant for his unique work, but still sleeps on the road in his car most nights to save money.
So the next time you see someone creepy just staring from the darkness into a traffic or weather camera, just remember they might be an artist.

That’s simultaneously the creepiest and most interesting art project I’ve ever heard of. Make sure to check out Tatu Gustafsson‘s website for more innovative art projects like this.
