The most terrifying thing about killers and psychopaths is that they’re usually pretty good at blending in. It’s pretty rare to come across murders that aren’t totally shocking, and that’s exactly why people like Harold Henthorn are so dangerous.
Back in September of 2012, Henthorn and his second wife, Toni, set off for a hiking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park to celebrate their anniversary.
While they were walking, Toni fell off a cliff and plunged 128 feet to her death. The photo below was the last picture taken before she died.
But Toni’s death was far from accidental. Once police figured out that Henthorn had received a ton of money from her life insurance, he was arrested and charged with murder.
At his trial, it came out that Henthorn had meticulously plotted the death of his late wife, and that it most likely wasn’t the only time that he’d done something like that.
Even though he was only convicted of killing his second wife, prosecutors pointed to suspicious circumstances surrounding the car accident that killed his first wife back in 1995.
The jury agreed with prosecutors and sentenced Henthorn to life in prison. Oddly enough, he maintained his innocence the entire time.

The lengths to which people will go just to get some money are pretty crazy. Luckily, Henthorn is going away for a long, long time. He’ll never have another chance to kill again.
