Look Into The Sky This Week And You’ll See Something That’s 10 Years In The Making

For those of you who are interested in astronomy, this next week will be especially exciting for you. For the first time in over a decade, the five planets that are visible from Earth (Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury) will align.

The best part is that after they line up this week, you’ll be able to observe the phenomenon until February 20. This is the first time that it’s occurred since 2005, so you might want to break out your telescope and have a look!

The best time to view these planets is just before dawn.

And if you’re confused about which spots are planets and which ones are stars, stars appear to twinkle and planets don’t.

If you want to see these aligned planets in all their glory, find a place with very little light pollution, wake up an hour before dawn, and whip out that telescope that you never use. You have about a month to see it happen, so take advantage of this rare moment!
